2017 NFL Week 8 Predictions

Week 8 Predictions
Fins +3.5 over Ravens, 14-17
-I’m just taking the points, and the hope that Jarvis Landry gets like 12 catches for me.

Vikings -9.5 over Browns, 23-6
-Ugh, send London our best, right? Browns, just play Kizer. See if there is anything there. I have seen enough I probably wouldn’t think he has it, but why not. Stop jerking him around.

Saints -9 over Bears, 24-13
-Strange, this Saints season. Maybe its Brees’ one last hurrah?

Falcons -5 over Jets, 24-17
-If this doesn’t work, they should cut Sark right on the tarmac. McCown, you are up for another round of “I can’t believe I should have started Josh over BLANK”?

Bucs/Panthers I have no idea. None. Would not bet. Bucs at home in a toss up if I had to.

Eagles -12.5 over Niners, 31-10
-I have liked the Niners to stay close, but this has to be Philly big. Wentz and the MVP wagon keep on rolling.

Raiders +3 over Bills, 24-20
-I have gained a begrudging respect for the Bills, but I am going to jump on the Raiders with points as long as that is a viable possibility.

Bengals -10 over Colts, 20-9
-The Bengals haven’t been good, but they haven’t been the Colts. Wow that staff and team is bad. Hold on Jacoby.

Chargers +7.5 over Patriots, 27-31
-That’s a lot of points. Teaser with Pats -1.5 and over 42.5 look pretty good to me though. Hightower injury sucks though.

Texans +5.5 over Seahawks, 21-20
-Watson and the points versus the team that can’t keep lineman on the field on either side of the line. We will see here how real the Texans are, healthy and ready coming off the bye.

Cowboys -2.5 over Ethnic Slurs, 34-26
-Cousins’ stats look the same, but the team doesn’t. Cowboys continue to roll until Zeke finally gets sat down. If this creeps over 3 I’m not staying on it though.

Lions +3 over Steelers, 23-22
-Lions had the bye and got healthy. Their defense should matchup okay with the Steelers and pressure Ben. Ben on the road is still a clear stay away if not a bet against.

Chiefs -7.5 over Broncos, 26-11
-Ugh, I wish I didn’t have to lay the extra half point but I guess I need to here. Broncos are just a mess on offense. We see Paxton Lynch soon, right? I’m not saying he’s the answer, but with their investment we have to see, right?

2017 NFL Week 7 Predictions

Week 7 Predictions
Raiders +3.5 over Chiefs, 27-26
-I am holding faith with my boy Carr. Please let me be right.

Bills pk over Bucs, 24-20
-Something is not right with the Bucs. And I just don’t feel bad it isn’t working for Jameis right now. I assume karmatically it will always be this way for him.

Panthers -3 over Bears, 19-13
-I know the Bears are deceptively messing with some teams right now, but this is still a rookie matched up with a smart, veteran defense on 10 days rest. Am I predicting 19 points because I have Gano? Yes, yes I am.

Titans -5.5 over Browns, 23-10
-Mariota will only improve and the Browns are switching QBs again. This should be the point in the season where teams like Tennessee knock off teams like the hapless Browns. If they don’t, might be time to hit the panic button for the Titans.

Saints -4 over Packers, 31-20
-I hate what is about to happen to the Packers. Ugh. Maybe they get a nice pick and are able to reload for the last phase of Rodgers’ prime.

Jags -3 over Colts, 20-16
-Colts, just shut it down with Luck. Get him right for next year. Especially after you lose this one, it will be over already. Showcase Jacoby for a possible trade. The Jags defense is going to rip into the Colts. I hope Fournette is healthy though, he’s so good and fun to watch. Limit the Bortling everyone, and this will be an easy win.

Rams -3.5 over Cards, 30-26
-Both teams I really like, but the improvements I see in many areas with the Rams and flaws I see in the Cards are enough to sway my opinion here. If Fitzmagick can score like that, imagine what McVay and Goff can do. Should be a big game by Gurley.

Fins -3 over Jets, 24-16
-I’m contractually obligated to pick this game between two teams whose QBs will be analysts (though probably pretty good ones) in 10 weeks. Suh -3 over Wilkerson.

Vikings -5.5 over Ravens, 17-11
-Flacco is just so bad I can’t pick him on the road against this defense. You’d have to be elite to win with their current offensive situation.

Niners +6 over Cowboys, 22-26
-Zeke drama and distraction and the Niners proven ability to hang close produces a tight contest.

Bengals +5 over Steelers, 24-23
-I just still don’t trust the Steelers. I’ll take the team off a bye over the team on a shorter week that has been uneven. AJ Green should have a big game.

Broncos pk over Chargers, 24-21
-3-point heartbreak? 3-point heartbreak. Also, bad Trevor, bad!

Seahawks -4.5 over Giants, 27-6
-Team coming off a bye versus a bad team that just won produces this insane line that is way too low.

Falcons +3.5 over Pats, 35-37
-Um, any Pats fan who says “yeah, we totally are cool with playing Atlanta’s offense right now with our porous, injured defense and also giving 3.5 points” is LYING. They are LYING to you. Close win, sure. Last minute heroics by Brady or outfoxing of ATL’s coaches by Bill, sure. But laying 3.5 is too tough for me.

Eagles -4.5 over Ethnic Slurs, 31-17
-Yes! I love this number. Washington is a fine team, but this Eagles team is in the elite. Wentz has been so good and their front seven continues to impress me.

2017 NFL Week 6 Predictions

Week 6 Predictions
Eagles +3 over Panthers, 27-23
-I don’t trust Thursday Night Football, and I don’t trust Cam, so I’m taking the points in what looks like it will be a close game. I’m really excited to get an extended look at Wentz though, and to have a legit front seven pressure Cam.

Falcons -11.5 over Fins, 34-6
-The Falcons blast the Fins coming off a bye to get healthy and refocused. Adam Gase doesn’t think Cutler is the biggest problem, and fairly, he probably isn’t. But he’s not a solution. He’s thinking about retirement 12 weeks from now. Ask Pittsburgh how that works out.

Ravens -6.5 over Bears, 20-13
-Starting my Ravens defenders wherever I can. This could be tough for Truthbisky. And I’m jumping on this before it creeps to 7.

Browns +10.5 over Texans, 13-20
-That just seems like a lot of points to hang for a rookie QB, especially after 2 of the Texans’ best defenders just got hurt. Seems like a low scoring affair.

Packers -3 over Vikings, 30-17
-Am I missing something here? Lock of the week. Vikings QB situation is still limited, and the Packers are performing like everyone thought the Pats would be. Rodgers may just roll to this MVP. They haven’t even really had all of their people together and healthy either.

Saints -4.5 over Lions, 31-26
-I like the Lions, I really do. However, they are beat up and going on the road to a team off a bye. Just taking the infrastructure and schedule here as a pick. Plus Brees is a monster off of a bye at home over the last half decade.

Pats -9.5 over Jets, 31-13
-The first real AFC East showdown (and most of the Pats’ are in the final 5 weeks of the regular season, so this is an important tone setter). This should be where the Pats step on their throats. I am hoping the 10 days off allowed for some defensive introspection. We will see. I would applaud the Jets for their effort and gameness, but they are just screwing up their draft pick so I won’t even do that. Would love an easy game on Brady though, with a ton of runs and screens.

Ethnic Slurs -10 over Niners, 26-12
-Niners have been keeping it close, but this is a real offense coming off plenty of time to plan and execute. I want to see Pryor play well though, that integration has me worried (I may or may not be a fantasy owner).

Bucs -2 over Cards, 24-17
-No idea what to do with this game, so I’ll take the team who didn’t look at a 32-year-old washed up RB with a spotted history and no knowledge of the offense and go “THAT’s what we need” this week. Plus, the Bucs are on longer rest.

Rams +2.5 over Jags, 21-20
-Goff over Bortles. The RB battle is legit fascinating though. Rams still figuring out how to win, but they will get there. It is the close wins that are key.

Chiefs -4 over Steelers, 27-20
-Ben, on the road in Arrowhead? Ugh, this could be bad. Something wrong with the Steelers, I’ve been saying it since July. Chiefs look like a 14-2 team. I am going to love betting against them in the playoffs though.

Raiders pk over Chargers, 24-17
-Whatever the line is, I’m taking the Raiders. Carr should be back, but even if it is one more week this team knows it needs to get a division win and keep in the race at least for the wildcard. Rivers is on the “2017 is your last year, right?” list that grows longer by the week.

Broncos -11 over Giants, 20-3
-Unwatchable and could be really ugly for Eli. Couldn’t happen to a better guy.

Titans pk over Colts, 20-13
-I’m assuming there will be no Luck, and the line will be about 3. The Titans can still make a solid run at the division here because of all the injuries to Houston and the likelihood that there is somewhat of a decline by Watson along the way. I’m also not sure the Colts would be better with a rusty and rehabbing Luck than Brissett right now.

2017 NFL Week 5 Predictions

Week 5 Predictions
Patriots -4.5 over Bucs, 37-31
-I’m very very nervous, but optimistic. I’ll trust in the system one more time and then evaluate if this goes badly. I still think Jameis likes to throw the ball to the other team too much, and the Pats do better on short weeks than most. Hightower playing more downs will help, and the Pats will invariably run the ball better than they have.

Browns pk over Jets, 20-15
-Take the home team I guess? I don’t even know anymore. The Jets almost couldn’t outBortle Bortles, so who the hell knows anymore.

Colts -1.5 over 49ers, 17-13
-As much as possible in that bad of a loss, the Colts impressed me versus Seattle. The 49ers play okay but just can’t score and make the big plays when it counts.

Titans pk over Fins, 24-10
-I have to assume even without Mariota that the Titans infrastructure beats the Fins infrastructure + Jay Cutler. What are the odds he is off the team by Week 10? 1-2? 1-3?

Bills +3.5 over Bengals, 23-22
-Bills might be a decent team, and the Bengals shouldn’t be giving this many points to them. Simply a function of an unfair line for what might be a competent team.

Chargers +3.5 over Giants, 23-26
-Someone wins this game. Either the Giants, Chargers, or the fans because we get a tie and both teams end up winless again going into week 6. In any case, this seems like a Chargers loss by 3, which means 4.5 is good.

Jags +8.5 over Steelers, 20-24
-Okay, I think I’ve got the pattern down. You Bortle one way one week then another way the next week. So, this week is good Blake? This is more of a bet against the Steelers blowing a team out right now that can somewhat score/run the ball.

Eagles -6 over Cards, 28-17
-Eagles are a nice little team no one is talking about. That front 7 is going to eat the Cards’ OLine.

Rams pk over Seahawks, 23-16
-The Rise of the Goff. The decline and utter rejection of the white and gold decorated uniforms from last week. This should be a tough little fight that I like the healthier Rams for. Seahawks need to find a way to get a pass rush, or this defense may not return to its full effectiveness, especially with their revolving door opposite Sherman.

Ravens +2.5 over Raiders, 17-16
-Ravens grind one out. This Carr injury sucks, the West is going to run away from the Raiders while he has to sit out. It would help if Crabtree was healthy or Cooper was alive.

Packers +2.5 over Cowboys, 31-26
-Gimme points with Aaron Rodgers versus a team with extreme flaws. Gimme gimme gimme!

Chiefs -1.5 over Texans, 26-23
-Watson, I’m impressed. If you do it here, versus the only 4-0 team, I’m ready to crown you. But I’ll bet on the establishment here until I see it again. Also, the Rookie of the Year will come from the teams in this game, the question is Hunt or Watson.

Vikings pk over the Bears, 19-13
-Wow, the number of no lines is amazingly high this week. Too hard to take the new QB starting, even if the other QB is Case Keenum. The Cook injury stinks too, but the Vikings defense is a tough first test for Truthbisky. The Bears only real strength is in their running backs, and the Vikings are going to stymy that strength. Good luck Bears.
